Hawa Bashir is a Sudanese woman who came to the Netherlands in 2001. In 2006 she founded “Soedania”, which has as goal the abolishment of FGM and domestic violence. Soedania also provides support to Sudanese women in Amsterdam and neighborhood. Hawa gives women help, support and information about FGM and organizes meetings for the target group. She has a lot of experience with working with women and she easily wins their confidence. She has very good communicative skills. Because of her personal and professional experiences she is a good knower of many different cultures. Her mother tongue is Arabic. She also speaks Dutch and English. She has often worked together with FSAN and other organizations in the Netherlands fighting against FGM. This is why she is motivated and a good candidate to contribute to CHANGE Plus as CHANGE Champion.
